Ula Dean Williams was born in Lindale, Texas on April 5, 1927. She became the family matriarch and enjoyed being a mother and granny. She loved gardening, people watching, babysitting, horseback riding, fishing, camping, cooking, and spending time with her loved ones. Ula Dean worked, for many years, as a housekeeper. She loved working and was very passionate about her career. She was married to Preston Childress. In her spare time, Ula Dean joined the Silver Slipper Horseback Riding Club. It gave her the opportunity to be around people, which gave her joy. She enjoyed laughing and being outdoors. In the year 1977, the Silver Slipper team split and some of the members formed a new team – the Humble Huffsmith 59er's Horseback Riding Club. Boy, they had lots of hayrides! Ula Dean will long be remembered, mostly for her love and respect for others; her gentle, kind, and peaceful spirit; and her loyalty to her family and friends. In her final days, Ula Dean Childress was a resident of Bordersville (Humble), Texas. She passed away on March 24, 2021. She was preceded in death by her mother, Marylena Williams; her husband, Preston Childress; daughter-in-law, Brilliena Richards; twin daughters, Mary Jean and Mary Jane; three sisters: Patricia Glenn, Ella Belle Roberts, and Christina Landrum; niece, Madeline J. Richards; great-niece, Jannie May; and two nephews, Cornelius and Larry Williams. She will truly be missed but never forgotten.
