Thomas Lee Richard
1942 - 2021

Thomas Lee Richard, fondly known as Butch, was born to the late Willie Mae Nelson and Sullivan Richard in Houston, Texas on March 11, 1942.

He graduated from Kashmere High School in 1961 and enlisted in the United States Army, where he served three years.  He worked as a letter carrier for the United States Postal Service where he retired after 30+ years.

From 1964 to 1981 he was married to Martha Pickens and to their union three children were born;  Jerri Lynn, Lorraine Lynette, and Thomas Lee Jr.  He later met Brenda Sonier where Chauncie Breon and Casey De'shun were born.

He was a faithful member at Calvary United Methodist Church where he devoted his time serving the Lord.

Thomas (Butch) entered into eternal rest on February 6, 2021 as he slept.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie Mae and Sullivan; four sisters, Willie Jean, Ruthie, Ida, and Janice; and two brothers, Isaiah and John.

He leaves to cherish his memory:  his children, Jeri Brantley (Willie), Lorraine Richard, Thomas Richard Jr. (Sophia), Chauncie Sonier, and Casey Sonier (Crystal); six grandchildren, Durell Richard, Valencia Richard, Torrey Doucet, Alex Hay, Ashlee Richard, and Temple Richard; four great-grandchildren, Leighton, Bailee, Riley, and Tatum; a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, February 20, 2021 at 12:30 pm, at Duncan Mortuary Chapel, 5806 N. Wayside Dr., Houston, Texas 77028.  Pastor Lillie Ferrell, Officiating.

Burial will take place at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr., Houston, Texas 77038.  Gate time for burial 2:15 pm.
