Obituary

SYLVESTER EDWARDS was born to Potter and Cora Edwards, on December 18, 1932, in Franklin, Texas. He accepted Christ as his savior at an early age. Sylvester was educated in the Franklin School System. He furthered his education by attending various trade schools when he moved to Houston, Texas. Sylvester united with New Bethlehem Baptist Church in Houston, where he served as a deacon under the leadership of Pastor A. David Ellison.
He was united in Holy Matrimony with Lila Woodson on May 25 , 1970. Sylvester was employed by American Steel Company as a pipefitter for many years. His favorite leisure activities were fishing and spending time with family.
On June 13, 2021, Deacon Sylvester Edwards departed this life. He was preceded in death by his parents, Potter and Cora Edwards, and siblings: Annie Bell Gibson, Elvenia Thomas, and J. Harvey Edwards.
Deacon Edwards leaves, to cherish his memory: his wife, Lila Edwards; children: Gerard Edwards, Geselle Edwards, Eric S. Edwards, Andrew Edwards, and Carl Edwards; a sister, Laura Jackson; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Both Services will be held at New Bethlehem Baptist Church, located at 2404 FM 2776 Bryan Texas 77805

Interment: Franklin Cemetery
