An Earth Angel Gains Her Wings

On May 5, 2026, God called home one of His rarest creations: Ruby J. Norwood. Born on July 27, 1943, to Jessie Griffin and Alma Lee Evans in Harris County, Ruby was the firstborn child who spent her early years attending Booker T. Washington High School. Ruby lived an amazing life defined by radical selflessness. She met her soulmate, J.C., in 1964 and married him on December 6, 1965. Through this beautiful union and her previous marriage, she became the proud, loving mother of six children. To Ruby, a stranger was simply a friend she hadn't met yet. She expressed her warm, gifting nature through her work as a domestic professional, and her natural passion as a baker and cook. In the 1970s, she rooted her faith at Corinth Baptist Church under Pastor A. Louis Patterson Jr. As the Children’s Church Mother, she fed both the souls and bodies of the youth, creating smiles with her legendary healthy meals. She lived to serve, loved without limits, and will be profoundly missed.
