Robert Lee Mayo was born to Wesley and Lucille Mayo on January 28, 1942 in Opelousas, Louisiana. He was the first of six children. He graduated from Phillis Wheatley High School of Houston, Texas.
After graduating he joined the United States Air Force and served as a machine operator.
During his lifetime, he married Jeslon Roberts Mayo, the mother of his three children: Barbara, Norman "Charles" and Deborah.

Bobby was well known by family and friends as "Bobby". In his last days, he was mainly cared for by his devoted ex-wife Jeslon.
On the evening of July 5th 2018, God made a call to his son, Robert Mayo, and took him from his earthly tabernacle to his heavenly home. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Wesley and Lucille Mayo; one brother Charles Wesley Mayo; and one sister Betty Gene Mayo.
Those that loved him and live to cherish his memory are: his ex-wife Jeslon Mayo; his sisters Geraldine Mayo Stevens and Teresa Stephens; one brother Donald Mayo; his children, Barbara Mayo, Norman Mayo, and Deborah Mayo; granddaughters, Daniella, Angela, and Andrea; his great-grandchildren, Mareka, Alexander, and Gabrielle, a host of sisters-in-laws, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 14, 2018. Visitation from 10am to 10:50 am, followed by 11 am funeral service, at Community Baptist Church, 4005 Kress St., Houston, TX 77026 - Pastor B. K. Williams officiating.
Interment at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr., Houston, TX 77038.
