On May 10, 1956, Rickey Haskin was born in Houston to Lauretha Turner Haskin and Nathaniel Haskin. He was the fourth of fourteen children born to this union. Rickey was blessed with a talent for playing the drums at an early age. Through attending church, he discovered and shared his musical gift with many, eventually giving his life to Christ.

Rickey attended B.C. Elmore for grade school and middle school, and later attended Forest Brook High School. Throughout his life, he worked various jobs while faithfully playing the drums in church until his health began to fail.

Rickey was a loving father, brother, uncle, and friend who deeply cherished his family. He is preceded in death by his parents,Lauretha and Nathaniel Haskin, and his brother, Ronnie Haskin.

He leaves to cherish his precious memories his beloved son, Brandon Carter; two brothers, Terry Haskin and Joe Haskin; eleven sisters, Gaynell, Donna, Paulette, Sandra, Rita, Darlyne, Angela, Charlotte, Monica, Veronica, and Deborah Collier; sister-in-law Rosalyn(Joseph) Haskin; and brothers-in-law Raymond Runnels, Michael Stapleton, Blake Smith, and James Robinson, along with a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends who will forever hold him close in their hearts.
