Stewart-Davis
1955 - 2022

On Tuesday, November 22, 2022, Ray Jean Davis, a beloved daughter, sister, and aunt, departed this life.  She was born on August 30, 1955 to loving parents Ray and Gladys Riley Stewart in Houston, Texas.  She was the eldest of three children.

Ray graduated from Forest Brook High School in 1973, where she was a drill team member and went on to work in nursing.  Before working her way up to become a well-known phlebotomist, she met Charlie Davis, who became her husband.  They were together for thirty-six years.

Ray Jean was active in the lcoal club scene and regularly danced the night away with her husband, Charlie.  Ray also loved traveling to Vegas and California, room service, and telling stories that made people laugh.  There was never a dull moment around her.  She would feed you, make you laugh, and care for you.

Her niece "Boo Boo" (Shala) remembers all the times fondly when her aunt was there to help care for her anytime she was sick, and also all the SweeTarts her aunt fed her through the many church services at Greater Pure Light.  She was a modern day Florence Nightingale who nursed her husband Charlie back to health time and time again whenever he faced medical hardship.

Her favorite moments were being around her family, eating TJ's (brother-in-law) BBQ, and listening to Blues.  During her later years, she enjoyed sitting on her porch across from the neighborhood park and people-watching, and chatting with family, neighborhood friends, and neighbors sitting on the porch with her.

Ray Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Davis, and her mother, Gladys Stewart.

She leaves to cherish loving memorieis to her father, Ray Stewart; a sister Charlene Jackson (TJ); brother, Eddy Stewart, her niece Shala Warner (Kris); and a host of  dear cousins and friends.

Celebration of  Life will be held on Saturday, December 3, 2022.  Viewing starting at 10 am followed by Funeral service at 11 am.  Both services will be held at Duncan Mortuary Chapel, 5806 N. Wayside Dr., Houston, Texas 77028.  Pastor B. K. Williams, Officiant.

Burial will take place in Golden Gate Cemetery, Houston, Texas.
