Rachel Bertha Richardson Faulkner was born to the union of Thomas Bia-Seh Richardson and Rachel Ann Roberts Richardson on the 2nd of June 1933, in Virginia (Mangotown), Liberia.  Her nickname was "Sis Plum."  She went home on February 28, 2019 in Memorial Herman Hospital at Memorial City in Houston, Texas.

Rachel received Christ at an early age and was a devoted Christian.  She was baptist by denomination.  In her elementary days she attended the Lott Carey Mission School in Brewerville, Liberia, West Africa where she graduated.  She then moved to Kakata, Liberia where she attended L. Benson Nickel High School.  After high school, she became a teacher.  To further her education, she attended Kakata Rural Teacher Training Institute (KRTTI) where she received her teaching certificate.

Throughout her years, her love for children caused her to work several places taking care of children.  In the early 60's she worked at Lango Lippaye Elementary School as a 3rd grade teacher.  From 1981 until she transitioned to America, she worked with the Rebecca Holder Kindergarten School.

Rachel married Thomas Phillip Faulkner in Brewerville, Liberia, and their union was blessed with seven (7) children.  Three of her children predeceased her.  She had ten (10) siblings who predeceased her also.

Rachel was very active in her church and community organizations.  She was a member of the Evening Star Baptist Church in Kakata, Liberia, where she served as a deaconess.  She became a member of Fair Haven United Methodist Church in Houston, Texas form 1994 to 2003.  Missing her Baptist roots, she joined Westside Baptist Church in Katy, Texas form 2009 to present.

In Liberia, Rachel was a member of the Order of Sisters of the Mysterious Ten (SMT) and a past matron of the Eastern Star.  As a member of SMT, she rose to the highest level of Princess.

The civil war in Liberia caused Rachel and her family to migrate to the United States in 1993, where she lived until she went to the Lord.

She was a Wife,  A Mother, An Aunty, A Grandmother, A Great-grandmother, A Teacher, A Care-giver, A Friend, and A Loving and Selfless person who will be deeply missed by all.

A wake  for Rachel will be held Friday night, March 29, 2019 from 6:30 to 9 pm.  Funeral service Saturday, March 30th at 11am.   Wake and funeral will be held at Living Word Church, 16607 Clay Rd., Houston, Texas 77084.  Rev. Richard D. Butts, Eulogist.
