Qutha Winters was born on February 16, 1935 to Esque and Viola Winters in Old Washington County, Texas.  Later, the family relocated and made Houston their home.  Qutha received his early education in the Houston Independent School District, where he graduated from Wheatley High School.  After graduating, Qutha joined the U.S. Army where he served until his honorable discharge.

On June 29, 1959 Qutha united in marriage to Shirley Ann Tubbs.  Their union was blessed with four children, Qutha Byron, Griselda, Gregory and Latonia.  Qutha always strived to do better in life and after working in a chemistry lab for several years, he landed his ideal position at Reynolds Metal Company where he worked as a Quality Control Inspector.  During his tenure at Reynolds, Qutha also served as the Financial Secretary of the local union.  Qutha Was known to many as "Big Q and The Jack of all trades and Master of none."  He also served as the local Precinct Judge for several years.

In 1994, Qutha obeyed the Gospel at Scenic Woods Church of Christ, under the leadership of Brother Robert Ravenell.  He was an active member of the Church where he served faithfully and encouraged others to do so as well.  The family later moved their membership to Highland Heights Church of Christ where Qutha took an active role in serving in several capacities.

Qutha was a dynamic man who was known to be a "straight shooter" yet, he was sincere, honest and very caring in all aspects.  He always encouraged all to do the right thing.

In addition to being a die-hard Washington Redskins Fan and an avid Bowler, Qutha loved cooking, gardening, and capturing photos of his family.

Qutha departed this life on Sunday, October 23, 2016.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Esque and Viola Winters; two children, Griselda and Gregory; two brothers, Roosevelt Winters and James Winters; and four sisters, Lenora Lewis, Marsha Winters, Julia Paul, and Theresa Holland.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife Shirley Winters and two children, Qutha Byron (Teresa) and Latonia Walker (Ernest); seven grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relative and special friends.

Services will be held on Friday, October 28, 2016.  Visitation will began at 10am followed by 11am funeral service at Highland Heights Church of Christ, 6842 Morrow St., Houston, Texas 77088 - Brother Tommy J. Brooks in Charge.
