Pastor Ira Thomas Singleton , born on July 28, 1944, to Thomas Singleton and Doris Goodman-Singleton, was a devoted servant of God from an early age. Baptized at New Macedonia Baptist Church by Rev. R.L. Smith, he was called into the Ministry 55 years ago and served as the Pastor of Houston Greater Hope Missionary Baptist Church for 53 years until his passing on March 24, 2025. Pastor Singleton was a revered teacher and preacher, introducing many to Christ and becoming the Patriarch of his family, admired by all who knew him.

He married Ruby Lee Terry-Singleton on March 21, 1965, and together they raised four children during their 60 years of marriage. Pastor Singleton is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Doris Singleton; his brothers Albert Goodman & Robert Singleton; sister Ruby Roberson; brothers-in-law Roy Roberson, Jim Pace, and Darrell Steptoe; grandsons Kwame Singleton & Darius Cartwright; one great-grandchild; and niece Marian Williams.

He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife, Ruby Singleton; sons Ira (Shelia), Robert (Yola), Derrick (Shay), and Janice (Antonio); twelve grandchildren: Ka'Lyn, Victoria, Desiray, Bria, Paige, Payton, Preston, Tyrhonda, ReRe, Derrius, Darion, Devontae; seven great-grandchildren; seven sisters: Twin Irene (Jim), Marva (Henry), Sharon (David), Helen, Diane (Gene), and Clara (Thomas); along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A service to honor Pastor Singleton's life will be held on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at Northside Missionary Baptist Church, 6915 Curry Rd, Houston, Texas 77093. Viewing will begin at 10:00 am, followed by the funeral at 11:00 am. The service will be officiated by Pastor Winslow of Whosoever Will Gospel Church, with Pastor John Goodman of Unity & Love Baptist Church serving as the eulogist.

Interment will follow at Paradise North Cemetery.
