Ophelia A. Hale Long's Obituary
Mrs. Ophelia A. Hale Long was given to this wonderful world on December 25, 1935. She was born to Mr. Jessie Hale and Mrs. Alice Anthony-Hale. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend. She was born into a very large family. She was preceded in death by her daughters Alice Long, Cheryl Long, and Charles Long.
Ophelia accepted Christ at a very early age. She graduated from Dunbar High School in Lufkin, Texas. She later married the love of her life, Mr. Joseph Jewel Long on June 16, 1954. Ophelia later moved to Houston, Texas in the late 60's and made Greater Parkhill Church of God In Christ her church home and has been a faithful member since being in Houston, Texas.
She is survived by her husband, Mr. Joseph Jewel Long; one daughter Debra Hale (Robert) of Houston, Texas; two sisters, Jessie Mae Marks (Vernon) of Lufkin, TX., Morteal Spencer (Leroy) of Lufkin, TX.; eight grandchildren, LaTosha Grey (Dallas, TX), Shanique York (Houston, TX), Tekera Hadnott (Houston, TX), Angelia Long (Houston, TX), Carather Johnson (California), Alexandria Johnson (Houston, TX), Shatonya Lewis-Nesbitt (Brookshire, TX), Charles York (Houston, TX); fourteen great-grandchildren, Willie Edwards (Scooter), Adrianna Grey, Anastasia Long-Edwards, Kobe J. Lewis, Sydney Burr, Joseph Anthony, Neliyah Burr, Joseph Jewel Long-Nesbitt, Jalen Grey, Broderick Burr, Ayana York, Chason York, Charles York, and Christian York. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and other loved ones.
Celebration of Life will be held Monday, February 13, 2017. Visitation starting at 10am followed by Funeral Service at 11am. Both services will be held at Greater Parkhill Church of God In Christ, 7809 Winship St., Houston, TX. 77028 - Rev. Robert Robinson will be officiating.
Burial will take place in Houston National (VA) Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr., Houston, Texas - 1:30pm gate time.
