Myrtle Lee Wilson's Obituary
"I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I kept the faith; Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness which the Lord, the righteous judge shall give me that day."
On September 26, 1947, a baby girl was born to James and Blanche Bush Wilson in Clarence, Louisiana. She graduated from Phyllis Wheatley High School in 1967. She also attended and graduated from Job Corp. Myrtle was employed with Chevron (formerly Gulf) Oil Corporation for 31 years, and worked for 13 years with Harris County Toll Road Authority.
She was a faithful member of Greater Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church until her death.
God called Myrtle to home on January 19, 2016. She is preceded in death by: her maternal grandparents Alex and Lillie Bush, paternal grandparents Robert and Primrose Wilson, father James Wilson, son Derrick Wilson, Sr., brother Gregory Massingburg, and half brother Ronnie Wilson.
She leaves to cherish and rejoice in her memory: a loving and devoted daughter Detria "DeDe" Wilson; mother Blanche Massingburg; grandsons Derrius Wilson and Derrick Wilson Jr.; granddaughter DeAsia Moore; god-grandson Tristin Parker; sisters Lillie Smith and Diana Lyons (Ezekiel); brother Dexter Massingburg of Waco, Texas; 3 half sisters, and a host of uncles, aunts, counsins, other relatives and friends.
Homegoing Celebration will be held Saturday, January 23, 2016. Visitation will began at 9am followed by Funeral service at 11am. Both services will be held at Greater New Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, 5318 Tommye St., Houston, Texas 77028. Pastor Kanavis Jackson will be officiating.
Interment will take place in Golden Gate Cemetery
