Morris Lewis
1954 - 2022

Bro. Morris Lewis was born on May 20, 1954 in Lafayette, Louisiana to the late Doretha Franklin and Ezikel Lewis.  He departed this life on Friday, September 16, 2022.

Morris was baptized at an early age at Mt. Canaan Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. T. J. Compton.  He attended Mt. Canaan Church Kindergarten School under the late Sis. Ester Compton.  He also attended Settegast Elementary and graduated from B. C. Elmore High School in 1972.

Morris was employed at Gulf Supply Company where he drove 18-wheeler trucks for many years.  He ended his career at Duncan Mortuary, leaving behind many beloved co-workers. In his leisure time, Morris loved watching all sporting events and his beloved western shows.  Morris was a family man who enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

On Friday, September 16, 2022, the Lord called Morris Lewis home.  His passing brought sadness to the hearts of all who loved and knew him.

Morris is preceded in death by his parents and grandparents; two sisters, Rose Brooks and Emma Wyatt; one brother, Roosevelt Franklin.

He leaves to cherish loving memories, two sons, Joey Anderson and Derrick Stearns; two grandsons, Dareyan Rhodes, Jawaun Anderson; one brother, Benjamin Franklin, Jr; one sister, Laura Franklin; one niece, LaNetria Franklin; nephews, Lonnie Brooks (Lisa), Milton Brooks, John Brooks, Broderick Wyatt (JaQuay), James Wyatt Jr. (Lisa), Richard Franklin, Sr. (Felicia), Lee Franklin, Tyler Brown, and Charles Mukes III; one brother in-law, James Wyatt, Sr., and numerous great nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Celebration of life will be held on Saturday, September 24, 2022.  Viewing will start at 11am followed by funeral service at 12pm.  Service will be held at Duncan Mortuary Chapel, 5806 N. Wayside Dr., Houston, Texas 77028.  Reverend James Adams, Officiating.

Morris will be laid to rest at Golden Gate Cemetery, 8400 Hirsch Rd., Houston, Texas 77016.
