Mattie Louise Ryans was born in Livingston, Polk County, Texas on March 26, 1939, to the parents of R. A. and Rose Harrell. She was one of five siblings. Mattie attended public school in Livingston, Texas. She later met and married the love of her life, Howard Lee Ryans. Later relocating to Houston, Texas, where they began a new life raising their seven children.
Mattie enjoyed life, sewing, cooking and tending to her myriad of plants and flowers. She also loved watching her soaps and games shows. Mattie was known for spoiling her grand and great grand kids.
Mattie worked for over twenty years as a care giver for Mrs. Coates. For her dedicated service she was awarded a fully furnished home and car. This memorable place became the focal point of Mattie's life. A place of warmth and love for all.
Mattie was preceded in death by both her parents, R A and Rosie Harrell. She also was preceded in death by two sons, one brother and her loving husband, Howard Ryans of forty-six years.
Mattie leaves to cherish her memories six children, 22 grand-children, 30 great-grandchildren, and three sister.
Viewing will take place Saturday, March 26, 2016 at 10:00 AM; immediately followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM. Both services will be held at Mt. Houston Baptist Church; 5805 E Mt. Houston Rd., Houston, Texas 77050. Pastor Phillip Johnson. Interment will be at Golden Gate Cemetery.
