Mary Gene (Sam) Parrish was born on January 9, 1946 to loving parents, Antoine and Elnora Meyers Sam,  in Port Barre, Louisiana.  She passed away on October 12, 2020, in Houston, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents,  Antoine and Elnora Sam,  2 brothers, Malcolm and Albert Sam, and sister Gloria Parrish.

She leaves to cherish precious memories:  2 daughters Ursula (Tiki), Dedra, and Amy; 2 sons Christopher (Carol), and Dwayne; 11 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren; 3 sisters, 8 brothers; and a host of many other relatives and friends.

Services will be held Saturday, October 17, 2020 in Duncan Mortuary Chapel, 5806 N. Wayside Dr., Houston, Texas 77028.  Viewing will start at 1:30 pm, followed by funeral service at 2:30 pm.  Pastor B. K. Williams officiating.

Burial will take place on Monday, October 19, 2020 at 1:45 pm in Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr., Houston, Texas 77038.

In light of concerns regarding the community spread of COVID-19, Duncan Mortuary strongly urge that, per some church and cemetery instructions, services and burials are being subjected to adhere to CDC guidelines to avoid groups of no more than 75 people at church and grave site.  Gatherings will consist of family members at their discretion.  We request your assistance in communicating and adhering to the guidelines when requested by church and cemetery officials.
