Born on November 6, 1951, to Marie Eddington Johnson and Coy Johnson Sr. in Nacogdoches, Tx; Mary Delores Daniels would early learn the blessing of family and community in a tight-knit area of town known as the Sanctified Quarters. Mary often retold stories of her childhood here and all the wonderful times she had growing up there. From an early age, she witnessed her parents sow love into that community by feeding those who were hungry, sharing whatever they had, and providing shelter to those who found themselves in need of it; this foundation would nurture and shape the golden heart of the giver we're here to honor today.

A sharp mind, that caring nature, and a determined spirit eventually led to Mary obtaining her nursing degree despite the many obstacles which stood against her. She was never one to back down from a challenge, she chose to face them head-on knowing who was fighting alongside her and clearing the path before her. Her brave heart would take her to Houston, with a crazy army GI named John she'd take a chance on with little ones in tow. Her amazing love was able to turn two separate tribes into a family unit. As an RN Mary nursed and taught others to nurse in Houston for over 35 years before illness brought about her retirement. Never being one to be idle she threw herself into her Ministry preaching God's word and encouraging many to look up. Mary believed in being about her Father's business; if something needed doing, she would do it and If someone had to go, she was the first to grab her keys. Mary ran a soul-mending outreach ministry right from the living room; loving on and encouraging as many as Jesus sent her way.

She loved with her entire being, loving those who God blessed her with just as He did with flaws and all. She raised her kids (and their friends), their children (and their friends), and gave her heart to anyone else who needed a Mama, a granny, a sister, or a friend. Mary had mastered the art of turning a frown upside down, you'd never leave her presence feeling the same way you came. Mary transitioned from here Friday, January 22, 2021, to join her parents, Husband (John), 2 sons (John Jr. and Jeff), Daughter (Karin), Uncles, cousins, classmates, and good friends.

She leaves a legacy of faith, love, strength, and cherished memories with her sons Maurice and R.J, daughters Laura, Jennifer, and Gladys. Brothers Coy Jr (Wife Wilma), Sedric (Wife Ora) and George (Wife: Rosalind); Sisters Coy Ann (Husband Dewey), Madge (and Danny), and Claudine (Husband James). A beloved tribe of grandchildren, who she lived for, and a growing circle of treasured great grands as well. Mary will live on in the hearts of many nieces, nephews, brothers, and sisters-in-law, Uncles, cousins, countless friends, and neighbors. We'll never forget how hard she loved nor the lessons she lived out in front of us daily, she instilled the best now we must be the best.
