On February 23, 1925, in Arnaudville, Louisiana, a beautiful baby girl by the name of Mary Mildred was born to the late Willie and Mary Gordon. She was the 5 ^th of 9 children.

She attended school in Jennings, Louisiana. After graduating from high school, she, along with two of her sisters Lula and Ola moved to Houston, Texas. Mildred later united in the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony to Leroy (Roy) Chevalier, Sr. To this union eight beautiful children were born, Leroy Jr., Ollivette, Sylvia, Gwendolyn, Kevin, Kenneth, Angela, and Andre.

Together Mildred and Roy resided in the community of "French Town," located in Northeast Houston. Not long thereafter, the Chevalier family would relocate to the Settegast community, also in Northeast Houston. Upon settling in Settegast, the family became members of Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church. Later, along with other families of the community, the Chevalier's became founding members of St. Peter Claver Catholic Church, right in the heart of Settegast. Mildred was a devout Christian and dedicated member of SPC, where she raised all eight of her children and many of her grandchildren. She proudly served her home, church, and community until retirement.

Mildred was a tremendously caring, loving, and giving person. Her favorite pastimes were spending time with family and friends, cooking, playing cards, and listening, singing & dancing to Zydeco and Blues music. Her signature song was "At Last" by Etta James. She adored and supported her family and helped many others without hesitation.

Mildred was preceded in death by her husband Roy; precious children, Ollivette, Angela, and Leroy, Jr.; loving parents, Willie & Mary Gordon; loving grandchildren Michelle & Larry (LC); beloved siblings, Thelma, Roy, Almeda, Gustavia, Ola, Stafford & Baby Hazel.

She leaves to cherish her memories devoted children Sylvia (Richard), Gwen (Michael, Sr.), Kevin (Jackie), Kenneth, and Andre (Anna); 31 grandchildren; 53 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law Lula & Harold Holden; special nieces: Betty, Audrey, Jenell, Gail, & Barbara; and a host of nephews, nieces, family, and friends.

Service will be held at St. Peter Claver Catholic Church located at 6005 N. Wayside Dr. Houston, Texas 77028.

Time: Viewing starting at 11:30 am

Mass starting at 12:30 pm

Interment: Veteran National Cemetery  March 11, 2021, with gate time at 2 pm
