M L Thomas' Obituary
On May 2, 1952 M. L. Thomas was born to Eldra Lee Thomas Sr., and Gustava Thomas Johnson in Campi, Louisiana. M. L. was about four years old when the family moved to Houston, Texas. He was educated in the North Forest ISD elementary, junior high, and senior high schools. He attended a technical school for the trade of air conditioning and refrigeration.
He served his country in the Armed Forces - Army Branch. He was a warehouse supervisor at R. J. Gallagher where he was a faithful employee until his health began to fail before moving to Tulsa, Oklahoma.
M. L. was an energetic, loving, comical, and committed person. On February 14, 1978 he married Grace Marie Chandler, a union that was solid as a rock and love that never waivered, for better or for worse. M. L. rededicated his life to the Lord. He believed God for his Life. "Everything that I have needed, thy hand hast provided, great is they faith fullness Lord unto me". We his family believed that he could conquer the world. Whatever was wrong we believed that he could make it right.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his committed and loving wife, Grace M. Thomas, his son Rodney Dwayne Johnson (Shelia); his grandchildren, Rodnea and Tristan all of Houston, Texas; his sisters Gussie Lee Robinson, Rita Dale Thomas (David), and Loretta Johnson Barnes (Hayward), all of Houston, Texas; his nephews Travis Robinson (Linda), and DeCedric Lewis (Raven) of Houston, Texas; nieces Tamike Murray (Reginald), Nicole and Nicole Thomas both of Atascocita, Texas, Chianti Thomas; Bianca Thomas (god-daughter), both of Houston, Texas; sister in-law Gladys Chandler (DeeDee); brother in-laws James Chandler (Melissa), and John Chandler (Teresa), all of San Antonio, Texas; uncles Elland Babers (Liz) of Los Angeles California, Fred Babers of St. Martinville, Louisiana; aunts Ellen White, Della Young, Janie Lynch, and Rita Babers, all of Houston, Texas; and a life long friend Michael Gooden.
Funeral Service will be held Saturday, December 17, 2016. Visitation from 10 to 10:55am followed immediately by funeral service at 11am. Services at Duncan Mortuary Chapel, 5806 N. Wayside Dr., Houston, Texas 77028.
Interment will take place Monday, December 19, 2016 at 10:45am in Houston National (VA) Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr., Houston, Texas 77038.
