On August 7, 1932, a baby girl was born to loving parents Odell Hicks and Beatrice Joseph in Houston, Texas.  They named her Lula Mae.  She was the first born of three children.  She was raised in the Fifth Ward area of Houston, Texas where she attended James D. Ryan Elementary School, and James D. Ryan Middle School in the Houston Independent School District.

Sister Lula Mae confessed and accepted Jesus Christ at an early age as her Lord and Savior, and united with New Hope Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Reverend L. T. Jackson.  She sang in the choir and participated in Mission Church activities.  She also attended New Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of Dr.Wiley L. Dunn Sr., and Grace Bible Church of Willis, TX ., under the leadership of Pastor Gerald Wheaton.  She would later join and attend New Day Deliverance Holiness Church under the watchful eye of Apostle Richard Taylor.

Lula Mae received her wings to Heaven on April 17, 2019 surrounded by her loved ones.  She leaves to mourn and cherish loving memories to her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren,  great great-grandchildren, her siblings, and many other close relatives and friends.

Celebration of Her Life will be held on Tuesday, April 30, 2019.  Viewing from 9 to 10:55 am followed by Funeral service at 11 am.  Both services will be held at New Day Deliverance Holiness Church, 9001 Mesa Dr., Houston, Texas 77028 - Apostle Richard Taylor, Pastor.

Burial will be held at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr., Houston, Texas 77028.
