Lillian Marie Haynes' Obituary
Lillian Marie was born of Henry Crawford Sr., and Annie Mae Coleman on March 19, 1940. She was raised by her grandmother, Estella Martin. Estella spoiled her granddaughter with love and encouraged and molded her to use her vocal talent.
Lillian attended Corsicana's G.W. Jackson High School. She won a state music competition for singing a solo a- capella. She graduated in 1958.
Soon after, Lillian met Isaiah Haynes, who became her husband in May of 1960. They moved to Houston and started a family while living in Houston's French Town. In all there were four children; Jeffrey Haynes, Zoe Haynes (LaFleur), Sheldon Haynes, and Bryan Haynes. They were all raised in Pleasantville after their move from Kashmere Gardens. Lillian was also blessed with three grandchildren; Eryn LaFleur and Jordan LaFleur (Zoe), and her third Nyah Haynes (Jeffrey and Toniesha), all of whom she adored. She continued to build a life with Isaiah until his journey in this life ended on December 27, 2007.
Lillian worked at Lerner Shops before becoming an LVN and working at Seven Acres Nursing Home. Besides reading, cooking, and baking, Lillian loved to be with her families. She wanted her children to know them all. Her father, Henry Crawford Sr., married and had 10 children, most of them resided in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Her mother, Annie Mae, married and had 9 children, most of whom resided in Houston. All her siblings deeply loved, respected, and admired their oldest sister and she would visit them as often as she could.
Survivors, Aunt Gwendolyn Manning; her Dallas-Fort Worth siblings: Henrietta Gowans, Gwendolyn Davis, Henry Crawford Jr., Joan Crawford-Jackson, Shephen Crawford (Gloria), Bobby Crawford, and step-mother, Mrs. Annie P. Crawford.
She was preceded in death by Eugene Cunningham, Tommy Crawford, Jerrell Crawford, and Gary Eldriege.
Her Houston siblings: Revelyn Buckholtz (Ron), Janice Caslin (Melvin), Barbara Peterson (Morgan), Windell Elzy (Paula), and WIlda Denise Elzy.
She was preceded in death by Donald Ray Calloway (Gladys), Theodore Calloway (Edwina), Wilbur Carney Elzy (Dorothy (Pam), and David Elzy (Johnny Faye).
Then there is her church family.
Lillian joined Fidelity Church of Christ, under Minister Theaster Malloy Sr., where she sang in the choir.
Lillian was called home by the Lord on December 23, 2016. She was blessed to received the love she gave during her illness and was happy for all of those who called, came to see her, or prayed for her during her hospital and nursing home stays. You all blessed her in a special way and you are all family.
Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, December 31, 2016. Visitation starting at 10am followed by funeral service at 11am. Both services at Fidelity Church of Christ, 140 Fidelity St., Houston, Texas 77029 - Minister George M Williams II.
Burial at a later date at Houston National (VA) Cemetery (Houston, Texas).
