Leon "Banks" McMiller was born in Rayville, Louisiana to the proud parents Elsie Collins and Samuel McMiller. Leon was one of eighteen kids born to this lovely couple. Leon attended public school in Louisiana. Leon began to work at an early age. Banks enjoyed jobs like carpentry, where he would be able to fix things and help people.
Banks later met and married his lovely wife, Dorothy "Dot" Bass of Rustin, Louisiana; the couple later moved to Houston starting new ventures. Banks went on to stamp his career in the oil industry, working for Brown and Root for over thirty years. Banks loved working and meeting people from all over. After retiring at age 56, he began enjoying life by spending time with his family, fishing, working on cars and houses. Banks adored western movies and dancing to zydeco music.
Banks was preceded in death by both parents: Elsie and Samuel McMiller; first wife, Dorothy "Dot" McMiller; second wife: Annie M. McMiller; and twelve of his siblings.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his siblings: Odis McMiller, Herman McMiller, Glen McMiller, Emmeline Lewis, Odessa Pierre and Sam Reed; his children: Michael McMiller,Sr., James McMiller and Janice McMiller. He also leaves: Jerrell Lockett, Jackie Meeks, Goldene and Dominique Johnson. Banks is also survived by ten grand children and nine great grand children.
Viewing will be Saturday, March 12, 2016, 10 - 11am. Funeral service will immediately follow at 11am. Both services are held at Duncan Mortuary Chapel, 5806 N Wayside Dr., Houston, Texas 77028. Interment will be at Houston Memorial Garden Cemetery.
