Callier

1929-2023

Joseph Harris Callier (aka"Boo") was born October 26,1929 to A.C. Callier and Emma Bell Harris in Cold Spring, Texas. He departed this life on March 17, 2023. He was the oldest of four children from this union. His parents moved to Houston when he was very young. He attended Bruce Elementary and Phillis Wheatley High School. He served in the army during the Korean War. After completing his military duties he returned to Houston. He met Leola Callier and got married on April 10,1967, and had 6 children. After serving in the military he worked in his father's business. Callier's Auto Repair and Body Shop. While working with his dad, he remodeled a 1937 Ford Sedan by cutting the top off the car and turning it into a convertible. He named it "Splatypus". It was the talk of 5th ward. "Some people would say talk to Boo he can fix anything". He also worked for several major trucking companies as a diesel mechanic and driver, transporting big rigs from other states back to Houston. He later opened his own shop and stayed there until he retired.

His hobbies after retirement were visiting the casinos, telling stories about the Korean war, and his youthful days. The most important thing in his life was family. He cherished and spent time with them every chance he had.

He is preceded in death by his parents, A.C. Callier and Emma Bell, wife Leola Callier, and brother Tommy Callier Sr., children Freddiebell goodman, Lydia Callier

Survived by Sisters, Ella Guidry, Lucy Cummings, and Mary Barnett and children Brenda Warren, Eddie Jean Burr, Lynette Callier, Joseph Callier, and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be held Thursday, March 30, 2023.

Funeral:  11:00 am

Services will be held at Duncan Mortuary Chapel  located at  5806 N.Wayside Dr, Houston, Texas 77028
