Jimmie Lee Towner's Obituary
Sister Jimmie Lee Towner was born June 26, 1930 to the late Jim and Nellie Lee Love in Hardin, Texas where she accepted Christ at an early age at Olive Bethel Baptist Church. She graduated from Hardin Colored High School in 1948.
She married Buster Scott and to this union one son was born, Jewel Lee Scott (Ella).
She moved to Houston, Texas and later married Frank Towner of Sulfur, Louisiana. To this union 4 sons and 1 daughter was born; Myron (Rhonda) of Atascocita, Texas, Ralph, Larry, and Wayne of Houston Texas, and Carolyn Tarvin (Barry) of Spring, Texas.
Sister Towner joined Canaan Baptist Church in Houston, Texas in the early 1960's and served on the usher board and other organizations of the church. She later united with Fontaine First Baptist Church of Houston, Texas under the leadership of Pastor John Henry Brown where she remained a faithful member and served on several committees. She also served as a member of the Ella Bouldin Women's Missionary Society, and was recognized at the Honoree Level at the 7th Annual Three Score and Ten Senior Recognition Program and Luncheon. When asked what she would like to be remembered by, her reply was, "as one of GOD'S loving and faithful servants." She remained a faithful member of Fontaine First Baptist Church until she became ill and moved to Tomball, Texas where she remained under watch and care of Pastor Eric Wilson of Spring Antioch Baptist Church in Spring, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her husband Frank Towner; 4 brothers, Jesse Love, JW Love, Leoma Searles, and Artris Searles; 3 sisters, Nettie B. Blakes, Nora Bolds, and Dorothy Mae Johnson.
She leaves to cherish, her 6 children and 13 grandchildren: Natasha Towner, Terrance Towner, NaToya Towner, DeAngelo Burrell (Eboni), Andre Burrell (Latal), LeDaron Burrell, Brian Towner, Kayla Towner, Thomas Towner, Daniel Towner, Malik Towner, Iyana Towner, and Jennifer Towner; 9 great-grandchildren; Daryl, DeAngelo II, Kailon, Tiara, Chandler, Nyrion, Andre II, Kash, and Nicholi.
Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, January 7, 2017. Viewing 9am to 11am followed by Funeral Service at 11am. Services will be held at Fontaine First Baptist Church, 5400 Langley Rd., Houston, Texas - Pastor John Henry Brown, Officiating.
Final Resting Place in Paradise North Cemetery, 10401 W. Montgomery Rd., Houston, Texas 77088.
