Jessie Hue Southwell, born on April 3, 1941, was the beloved youngest of twelve siblings. Raised in a loving family, he was cared for by his older siblings after the early passing of his mother, Arbaella Cooper Southwell. Jessie found a second mother in Ms. Lena, his cherished stepmom. He moved to Houston at 18, where he met his future wife, Blanche, and they shared 43 wonderful years together.

Jessie was a graduate of Jasper High School and spent his early years at Rockhill Community School. He dedicated 25 years of his life to the Oil Pipe Company Cactus as a forklift operator before retiring at 55. Post-retirement, he ran a landscaping business and became a pillar of the Northeast Houston Community, known for his hospitality and generosity.

Though not a regular churchgoer, Jessie cherished the Bible and its teachings, often quoting his favorite scriptures. During the COVID era, he attended spiritual meetings of Jehovah's Witnesses via Zoom, finding peace with God.

Jessie is survived by his children Rudy Southwell, Darchaedralyn Mejia, and Jessie Southwell, along with six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. He leaves behind his twin brother, Willard Southwell, and sister, Thelma Bob, along with numerous nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his wife Blanche, several siblings, and his son Brian Whitley.

Jessie's life will be celebrated with a wake on February 13, 2026, at Duncan Mortuary Chapel in Houston, followed by a graveside service at Rockhill Cemetery on February 14, 2026. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
