1946-2023

Today we celebrate the homegoing of Jesse Lee Washington, a hard-working family man that was the pillar of strength to his family. Jesse was born on September 02, 1946, in Settegast, Texas. He was the sixth child born to James Washington Jr and Naomi Blackmon-Washington.

As a youngster, Jesse played drums for his high school band and earned extra money working on a chicken farm and raising fuzzy little rabbits. Jesse loved working with his hands and often demonstrated his aptitude to restore old things like cars and machines.
On July 23, 1966, he married Marilyn (Broussard) Washington of New Iberia, Louisiana, and their union produced a son, James M. Washington.
Jesse worked several jobs in his lifetime as a Record Promotor for many years and then as an HVAC Technician at Armco Steele. He started his own business, Texas Temp while also teaching HVAC courses at Doolin Technical College. He later joined the Houston Independent School District (HISD) where he successfully oversaw the operations of hundreds of schools under his direction. He was often sought after for his ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex issues with refrigeration and air-conditioning.
While building his family and pursuing his career, he joined the Texas Rollers, one of the most esteemed Black RV Clubs founded in Houston. Through this association with the Texas Rollers, he traveled the country with his family and friends creating a true community environment.
Jesse is survived by his bride of 56 years, Marilyn Washington who was by his side literally and physically to the very end of his life; his only child James M. Washington (Rodessa). His greatest joy was his legacy of Grand Loves; Jessalynn Eneh mother of Amarachi; Brendalyn Avery, mother of Eitan and Elaunie, Jalin Washington and extended grands Johnessa Mitchell, mother of Alaina and Matthew Mitchell. He is also survived by his siblings; James A. Washington, Ella Mae McNealy, Andrew Washington (Lurlene), Alice Moten, Allen Washington (Wilma), Thomas Washington (Gloria), Michael Washington, and Curtis Washington. There are a host of loved ones, nieces and nephews, too many to mention by name
that will truly miss him.
GOD HAS JESSE IN HIS KEEPING AND WE HAVE HIM IN OUR HEARTS-FOREVER.

Service for Mr. Washington will be held on Thursday, May 18, 2023, at Fifthward Church of Christ located at 4308 Stonewall St, Houston, Tx 77020.

A viewing will start at 9:00 am followed by an 11:00 am Funeral Service.
