Jacquelyne Elaine Jones was born July 26, 1952, to James and Velma Jones in Houston, TX. Her entrance into the world was a foreshadowing of just how special she would be, as she was born in the back seat of her mother's obstetrician's town car, which was being driven by her father, James.

Jacquelyne grew up on Houston's northeast side, where she attended Kashmere High School and graduated in 1970. She went on to attend Texas Southern University and worked for Southwestern Bell/AT&T for almost 30 years before retiring to help raise her grandchildren. She was also a proud member of the Communication Workers of America (CWA) union during her employment with AT&T.

Jacquelyne was blessed with three children, Jamara, Jamecca, and Joshua, and was a surrogate mother figure to many more. She was an avid reader, loved to travel in her later years, and was a phenomenal cook. Most of all, Jacquelyne loved her family. Her grandchildren and great nieces and nephews were her pride and joy.

Jacquelyne was preceded in death by her father, James Jones, mother, Velma Jones, sister, Helen Deal, and brother, Jonathan Jones.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory, two daughters, Jamara Bates of Humble, TX and Jamecca Jones of Rochester, MN, one son, Joshua Dawson of Houston, TX, sister Sandra Dawson of Houston, TX, brothers James Jones (Pamela) of Desoto, TX, Kenneth Jones (Jackie) of Houston, TX,  and Byron Dawson of Houston, TX, grandchildren Amari Bates, Aiden Bates, Colin Massah and Adam Dawson, loyal canine companion, Jake Hemmingway, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.

A wake will be held on Friday, October 20, 2023, from 6:00 -8:00 p.m. at Duncan Mortuary Chapel located at 5806 N. Wayside Dr, Houston, Texas 77028.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 21, 2023, at Trinity Gardens Church of Christ 7725 Sandra St Houston, Texas, 77016.
