On June 6, 1928 a beautiful baby girl was born to the loving family of Andrew and Annie Greenwood, whom they named Helen Andrea Greenwood. Helen was the only child born to this union.
Helen attended and graduated from Austin, Texas School for the Blind. She also received a Bachelor and Master Degree from University of California in Los Angeles, California. She was a member of AKA Sorority, American Foundation for the Blind and a member of Texas Christian Foundation for the Blind. She loved to read and meet people.
Helen worked for over thirty years for Santa Clara County as a Social Worker. She would travel for sixteen miles one way on her own with her dog, by bus or train. She was determined to be independent.
Helen pride was her two sons, Geoffrey Mayer and Gerald Brag.
Helen was preceded in life by one son, Gerald Brag and both parents, Andrew and Annie Greenwood. Helen leaves to cherish her memories one son, Geoffrey Mayer; several grand and great- grand children.
Viewing for Mrs. DeSaussure will be held Saturday, March 19, 2016 from 9 - 11am. Immediately followed by funeral service at 11:00am. Both services will be held at Mt. Canaan Miss. Baptist Church, 7400 N Wayside Dr., Houston, Texas 77028. Officiating by Pastor Samuel Compton. Interment will be Houston Memorial Garden.
