Evan Thompson

On February 21, 1965, in Houston, Texas, a beautiful daughter was born to the late Mr. John W. Williams and Mrs. Lucille Williams.  She confessed Christ at an early age and was an active member at Greater New Mount Pleasant Baptist Church and later became a member of Fallbrook Church.

Evan Thompson was a standout track and field athlete at M.B. Smiley High School, where she earned back-to-back State Championship titles in 1982 and 1983.  Alongside her teammates, she received All-American honors and was awarded a Certificate of Recognition from the City of Houston for their outstanding achievements.

She continued her athletic career at Prairie View A&M University, where she became an eight-time National Champion and SWAC Champion, competing at both the indoor and outdoor levels.

Evan started her teaching career in H.I.S.D at Holland Middle School.  She taught PE and coached track and volleyball there for 12 years.  She then moved on to Aldine ISD to Hoffman Middle School and taught PE while coaching track, volleyball, and basketball for 20 years before retiring in May 2025. She loved working and mentoring students/athletes during her 32 years of teaching and coaching.

On March 22, 1997, she married her soulmate Kirk Delawrence Thompson. They were blessed with two children: Kirk D. Thompson Jr., and Tori R. Thompson.

She leaves to cherish the blessed memories of her devoted husband Kirk Thompson, her children:  Kirk D. Thompson Jr., and Tori R. Thompson. Along with her siblings: Edward Williams (deceased), Arline Bolden (deceased), Gwendolyn Stewart (deceased), Burnell Stewart, James Christian (Charlotte), and a sister-in-law Tamaria Walker.

She also leaves to cherish her memories of her four nieces whom she held so dear to her heart: Charice Visor (Corey), Niesha Davis (Scott), Brittaney Price (Marcus), Kayla Walker, one nephew Brandon Williams, and other relatives, as well as extended family members and dear friends.

Evan will truly be missed, but the love she shared will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, May 8, 2026.  Visitation starting at 11 am followed by funeral service at 12 noon at Fallbrook Church, 12512 Walters Rd., Houston, Texas 77014 - Pastor Olus R. Holder Jr., MDIV

Final resting place will be at Brookside Memorial Park Cemetery, Houston, Texas.
