Leavatts

1929-2023

Mrs. Ernestine Jackson Leavatts was born December 29 ^th , 1929 in Natchitoches, Louisiana to Steve and Ardella Jackson. She graduated from Brooker T. Washington High School. She was a faithful, devoted member of Groveland Missionary Baptist Church for more than 50 years. She was the Mission President for many years and held several roles within the church.

She was married to Mr. Lacie Leavatts Sr. of Albany, Georgia. Ernestine was a devoted mother to Cecil Townsend (Houston), Wanda Marie Leavatts (Houston), Tammy Lynn Leavatts (Houston), and Lacie Leavatts, Jr. (Houston).

Preceding her in death are her loving parents and husband four brothers: Steve Jackson, John Jackson, O'Neil Jackson, and Ernest Jackson; sisters: Ruby Jackson, O'deal Jackson Wardell, and Dorothy Jackson.

Left to cherish her memories include her four children Cecil, Wanda Marie, Tammy Lynn, and Lacie Jr.; nine grandchildren: Tomora Foster, Louis Townsend, Steve Townsend, Dawn Townsend, Deborah Townsend, Chimira Glover, Diamond Jones, Koby Leavatts and Jakob Leavatts; one brother Jay Jackson (Houston); one sister Gladys Collins (Houston); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.

Services will be held on Wednesday, March 22, 2023, at Groveland Missionary Baptist Church, located at 3717 Amoor Ave 77029.

A viewing will start at 10:00 am followed by an 11:00 am funeral service.
