Elder J.D. Houston, Jr. was born on November 21, 1948 in Carmona, Texas to Effie Mae Houston and the late J.D. Houston, Sr. He advanced on to his heavenly reward on Monday, January 9, 2017.
He was a devoted husband to the late Kathy Jo Houston (who preceded him in death in 1981), and father to four daughters: daughter and son-in-law Jenifer and Kenneth Price; daughter and son-in-law Holly and Brian Rivers; daughter Kimberly Houston; and daughter and son-in-law Jessica and Terry Taylor. Above all, he was a proud grandparent to six grandchildren: Jesterryus, Terrionna, Jeskathyia, Preston, Brianna, and Kathryn.
Elder Houston, the oldest of nine, joins is late sister Carolyn Willis, and is survived by siblings Barbara Booty, Ester Cole, Brenda Robinson, Eric Houston, Michael Houston, Sandra Hamilton, and Don Houston. He also leaves behind a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews, along with church family members, neighbors, and friends.
Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, January 14, 2019. Visitation starting at 10am followed by funeral service at 11am, at City Cathedral - The Woodlands Campus, 27131 Hannah Rd., Conroe, Texas 77385. Bishop Leroy Woodard Jr., officiating.
Burial will take place in Pine Grove Cemetery, 6005 State Highway 7 West - Nacogdoches, Texas.
