Edna Faye Scott

1943-2023

Edna Faye Scott was born October 8, 1943, in Groveton, Texas, to Clarence Scott (deceased) and Pearlie B. Thompson (deceased). While exact

dates are unknown, "Faye" (as most of her family called her) spent most of her teen years living with her father, Clarence, and stepmother,

Omezelle Scott. It was during these years that she also attended Phillis Wheatley High School, Special Education Program.

Shortly after her high school education, Faye's mental challenges resulted in her becoming a ward of the Texas Department of Mental Health and

Mental Retardation. She subsequently lived a significant part of her early adult years at Richmond State Supported Living Center, in which she

enhanced her developmental and community skills.

During the "middle" grouping of her adult years, she was blessed to live at a family residence with her loving foster mom, Cliffortine Page, and her

foster brother, deceased. Sean Page, and foster sister, Gladys Francis. After many years and due to various health-related events, Faye

transitioned to a foster group-home setting with Texana (Kenneth Wicks-Johnson, Residential Provider), where she also continued to thrive, until

suffering a shoulder injury requiring a higher level of care and rehabilitation. It was at that time that she transitioned to her final place of residence at

Cambridge Nursing and Rehabilitation in Richmond, Texas.

She was survived by: her mother, Omezelle Juarez Quarles Scott; brothers, Kenneth Dewitte Sterling Scott, and George Clarence Scott; sisters-in-

law, Stepheny Ann Scott (Div. Kenneth) and Mary Belinda Scott (George); nephews, Stephan Andrew Harris and Kendrick Allen Dewitt Scott;

nieces, Tyler Jewell Scott and Jordan Brielle Scott; foster mother, Cliffortine Page; foster sister, Gladys Francis; foster cousins, Tracy Barnes and

Tracy Broussard; and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, and foster family.

A viewing will be held on Friday, May 26, 2023, at Duncan Mortuary Chapel from 11 am - 1 pm
