Edna Mae Jones-Johnson (Dear)

1930-2022

Edna Mae Jones-Johnson was born on August 17, 1930, to the late Sam Jones Sr. and Susie Hall-Jones in Colfax Louisiana. Edna surrounded by loved ones, peacefully transitioned into eternal rest on November 18, 2022, at Memorial Hermann, Memorial City Medical Center, Houston Texas.

Edna accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized and united with Raven Camp Baptist Church and was a faithful member.

She later married Theodoes Johnson Sr. and from that union, eight children were born. As she traveled to many places in her lifetime, she always made it back to the place she called home. She later moved back home, where she served as a deaconess, usher, and treasurer and engaged in missionary work. She was a mother who believed in Faith, that is what she lived on.

She loved cooking and sewing for Family, Friends, and the Community. Her skills as a seamstress allowed her the opportunity to create beautiful items from pictures that her client requested. In 2008 she was diagnosed with multiple Myeloma, where she moved to New Caney, Texas. She later began treatment at MD Anderson Cancer Center. When she moved away, she never lost the connection to the place she call home. Whenever her health allowed, she and her daughter Serienthia made the trips home to attend her church.

She is preceded in death by one son, Samuel, her parents, five brothers, one sister, one granddaughter, one grandson, and one goddaughter.

She leaves to cherish her memories five sons; Gerald(Dorthia); Theodoes Jr.(Stephanie); Gerry, Kenneth, and Milton(Caranza); three daughters; Ava Bruins(Roosevelt); Karen Lopez and Serienthia Johnson; one brother, Isaac Jones; two sisters, Hattie Scott, Laura Felton(George Sr) and two goddaughters; Tanika Jackson, Lynette Hall and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
