Mrs. Donnie B. Simon McCardell was born on August 4, 1924 in Cushing, Texas to the late Delmon and Arrie Scruggs Simon.  She graduated from Mount Grove High School and went on to later graduate from Walls Beauty College in 1953 as a licensed cosmetologist.  She served as an entrepreneur of D&M Beauty Box in Houston, Texas for many years.

On March 31, 1947 she was united in marriage to James C. McCardell, and to this union they were blessed with one daughter.

Donnie B. confessed Christ at an early age at Valley Grove Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. A. A. McCardell.  She sang in the senior choir for many years and participated in several civil rights activities.

She was preceded in death by her husband James C. McCardell; four sisters, Jessie Mae Simon Baysinger, Fannie Simon Bowens, Lillie Mae Simon Gray, and Ossie Simon Anderson; four brothers, Bernice Simon, Martin Simon, Odies Ray Simon, and Roosevelt Simon.

She is survived by her daugher, Germaine McCardell-Malone (Rodney); sister Leeola Simon Lewis, brother Travis Simon, grandaughter Deja Keys, and a host of other close relatives and friends.

Home Going Celebration will be held on Friday, May 29, 2020 - 10 am, at Duncan Mortuary Chapel, 5806 N. Wayside Dr., Houston, Texas 77028.  Pastor B. K. Williams, Officiant.

Interment at Golden Gate Cemetery (Houston, Texas).
