Reverend Charles Edward Booker Sr., passed peacefully from this life on June 9, 2016.  He was born in Winnfield, Louisiana to Mr. Fred Booker Sr., and Mrs. Rosa Lee Davis Booker on March 1, 1940.  Charles was one of four children born to this union.  He joined Oak Ridge Baptist Church, was baptized and accepted Christ at a very early age.  He attended school in Louisiana before he moved to Houston, Texas and began his career as a truck driver.

He continued his career in the trucking industry for many years which allowed him to travel all over the United States.  Years after becoming an expert in the industry, he and seven other friends and colleagues ventured into entrepreneurship, forming "Rocking 8 Transportation, Inc."  Many years after accomplishing his dream of successful business ownership he retired from the industry.

Charles became a member of the Commandment Missionary Baptist Church where he served as deacon.  Under the leadership of Pastor Cleophus Williams, he was ordained as a minister of the Gospel July 5, 1987.  Reverend Booker truly dedicated his life to Christ and constantly studied God's Word.  He joined Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church and became the assistant pastor under the leadership of the late Pastor Tilmus Bradshaw.

His first marriage was to the late Gloria Booker.  To that union was born Bruce Brown; Carla Brown, Debra Bookman (Don); Dewanda Booker; Charles Edward Booker, Jr.; Stephanie Robinson; and Theresa Booker-Mukes (Everett).

He is preceded in death by his parents, Fred Booker, Sr., and Rosa Lee Davis Booker; brother Fred Booker, Jr.; son Bruce Brown; and daughter Dewanda Booker.

Charles is survived by his loving wife of thirty-eight years, Jerlean Booker; sons Charles E. Booker (Randi); Carl Cook (Barbara), Charles Cook (Tammy); and daughter Tamara Cook-Phillips (Jamal); his only two sisters Rosanna Holmes and Rosia Mae Booker; and a host of grandchildren, great grand-children, nieces, and nephews.

Celebration of Life for Reverend Charles Edward Booker, Sr., will be held on Saturday, June 18, 2016.  Visitation will start at 9am followed by funeral service at 11am.  Both services will be held at Commandment Missionary Baptist Church, 7122 Carothers St., Houston, Texas 77028.  Pastor Gregory Williams will be officiating.

Burial will take place at Houston Memorial Gardens Cemetery (Pearland, Texas).
