Obituary

A Life Well Lived 

Carl Earnest Thomas was born on January 5, 1958, in Keatchie, Louisiana, to Johnnie Mae Crosby-Thomas and Jimmy Thomas Sr.

Carl attended and graduated from Logansport High School in 1976. Following graduation, he proudly joined the United States Army, where he served as an Infantryman. During his 20 years of honorable and dedicated military service, Carl earned numerous awards and decorations, including the Army Achievement Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Good Conduct Medal (6th Award), National Defense Service Medal, Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon with Numeral 3, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (3rd Award), and Air Assault Badge. After 20 years of faithful service to his country, Carl was honorably discharged from the United States Army. In 2010, Carl joined the NABSTMC Houston, Texas Chapter and became a proud member, where he built lasting friendships and shared fellowship with his fellow members for 15 years.

Carl later married Katty Makkar.

Carl surrendered his life to Christ and became a member of Flowerhill Baptist Church, where he established his faith and relationship with God.

Carl will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his commitment to his country, and the love he shared with those around him.

He is preceded in death by his father, Jimmy Thomas Sr., and wife, Katty Makkar

He leaves to cherish his memory: his mother, Johnnie Mae Primes; his son, Darnell Love Thomas; his siblings, Norris Thomas (Tammy); Linda Maple (David); Mamie Washington; Stanley Primes; Lisa Primes; Anthony Primes (Pam); Jimmy Thomas Jr. (Kimberly); and Justin Thomas; He also leaves to cherish his memory his five grandchildren, Jarvis, Jatarvis, Janaiya, JayLa, and Jamion; five great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends; his beloved dog, Lady; and his gracious caregiver, Rhonda Staiano, and his special cousin, Jerry Allen.
