On January 8, 1949 a baby girl was born to U L Tubbs and Elmira Bogany Tubbs in Houston, Texas.  They affectionately named her Betty Jean.  Betty was called to rest on September 12, 2016 surrounded by her loving husband and family.

She managed  the day to day operation of  Duncan Funeral Home for many years where she served as President until her health began to fail her.

She is preceded in death by her parents, U L and Elmira Tubbs; granddaughter India Honora; sister Gloria Tubbs,  1 brother; and great-granddaughter Lea.

She is survived by:  Husband James Walters; 4 daughters Felecia, Kimberly, Tamerya, and Kim; grandson Larry Honora; 2 great-grandchildren Mia and Liam; 2 sisters, 2 brothers; a host of many  nieces, nephews, other close relatives and friends.

Wake service will be held Wednesday night, September 21st from 6pm to 8pm at Duncan Mortuary Chapel, 5806 N. Wayside Dr., Houston, Texas 77028.

Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, September 22, 2016.  Visitation will start at 10am, followed by 11am funeral service,  at Mt. Canaan Missionary Baptist Church, 7400 N. Wayside Dr., Houston, Texas 77028 - Rev. Samuel Compton, Sr., Pastor.

Final resting place will be in Houston Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Pearland, Texas.
