Asa Jamal DeJesus-Shepherd, lovingly known as “Lil Joccer” and “Baby Joccer” was born on July 8, 1999, in Houston, Texas, and was raised in the Settegast community. On May 13, 2026, Asa departed this life, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unforgettable memories.

Asa attended B.C. Elmore Middle School and Sterling High School. He possessed an entrepreneurial spirit and was always working toward building a better future for himself and those he loved. A businessman at heart, he was driven, determined, and never afraid to pursue his goals.

More than anything, Asa cherished his family. He loved spending time with those closest to him, creating memories that will be treasured forever. He had a passion for gaming and could often be found enjoying video games with friends and family. His sense of humor, loyalty, and loving nature made him someone people naturally gravitated toward.

Asa was a man of faith who believed in Jesus Christ. Through life’s challenges, he found strength in his faith and carried that belief with him throughout his life.

He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife, Linda; his children, Asa Jr. and Jenesis; his mother, Idolean DeJesus; his father, Joshua Reese; his sisters, Destiny and Elizabeth; along with extended family and countless friends whose lives were touched by his presence.

Though his time with us was far too short, the love Asa gave and the memories he created will live on forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

Service for Asa will be held on Wednesday, June 10, 2026.  Viewing 6pm to 6:45pm, followed by funeral service starting at 6:45pm to 8pm at Duncan Mortuary Chapel, 5806 N. Wayside Dr., Houston, Texas 77028.  Pastor Ralph M. Crowder, Eulogist.
