Maple

1947-2023

On January 7, 1947, Amos Maple, the second out of five children, was born to loving parents Joe Maple Sr. and Bobbie Jean Maple in Keatchie, Louisiana.

Amos attended school at Longstreet Rosenwald Elementary School in DeSoto Parrish, Louisiana, and later graduated from Logansport Rosenwald High School. Amos accepted Christ at an early age where he was a faithful member at Good Hope Baptist Church in Keatchie, Louisiana. He met and married the love of his life, with whom he shared over fifty years, and to this union, two children were born, Erika and Charlton (Chuck). In his early 20's Amos moved to Houston, Texas, and then became a member of Greater Northside Antioch Baptist Church.

Amos worked as a foreman/CNC machinist at Wyman Gordon, formerly called Cameron Iron, for over fifty years. Amos was a faithful husband to his lovely wife, and he was a devoted family man. Later in life, Amos joined Mt. Canaan Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Samuel Compton Sr. where he served as a committed member of the Trustee Board.

Amos understood with certainty that his assignment on the earth was temporary and accepted his wings on January 11, 2023. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters (Annie Ruth Maple and Doris Maple-Jones), and his lovely wife, Terry Elaine Maple.

Amos is survived by his two brothers, Joe Maple (Mary Ann) and David Maple (Linda). He leaves his legacy of love to his two children, Erika (John Kyles III) and Chuck (Shekitra Bradley), his granddaughter, Chase Kyles, and grandsons, John "Quad" Kyles IV, and Jourdan Kyles (Kiana).

Services will be held at Mt. Canaan M.B.C which is located at 7400 N. Wayside Dr, Houston Texas, 77028 on January 21, 2023, with a viewing starting at 9:00 am followed by a 10:00 am funeral.
