Abel Thomas Brown's Obituary
Mr. Abel Thomas Brown was born May 23, 1945 to Amelia Brown Edwards in Houston, Texas.
He received his education in the Houston Independent School District. He attended E. O. Smith Jr. High and became one of the great Phyllis Wheatley Wildcats where is graduated high school.
Abel loved to cook. He worked in the Houston area for over 50 years as a chef.
Abel married the love of his life, Ethel Mae Brown and to this union two children were born.
On January 1, 2017 Abel departed this earthly life. He was preceded in death by his step-father Preston Edwards Sr., and his mother Amelia Brown Edwards; daughter Katina Brown Joubert.
He leaves to cherish his memories: son Sherman Brown (Charlotte) and daughter Michelle Graham (Joseph); 5 sisters, Juanita Victorian (Earl), Alice Odom (Willie), Agnes Broussard, Theresa Lee, and Susie Edwards; 1 brother Preston Edwards (Perry); special god-child Leon (Bookie) Edwards. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren and one great grandchild; a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, January 7, 2017. Visitation 10 to 10:55am, followed by 11am funeral service, at Duncan Mortuary Chapel, 5806 N. Wayside Dr., Houston, Texas 77028 - Rev. Peter Joseph, officiating.
Burial will take place in Paradise South Cemetery (Pearland, Texas).
